Richard Quartermaine is Head of Sustainability at Urban&Civic, the leading Master Developer of large-scale strategic housing sites in the UK. Urban&Civic is owned by charitable foundation, the Wellcome Trust.
He is responsible for driving the implementation of the U&C Sustainability Framework and continually improving U&C’s sustainable impact across all its operations.
Richard’s career in sustainability has spanned 15 years at three different organisations – Sweett Group, Hammerson and now Urban & Civic. He was also previously Chair of the Sustainability Committee at the British Property Federation for 4 years.
Richard is passionate about achieving net zero carbon outcomes for buildings and infrastructure through exemplary sustainable design, build, operation and stakeholder engagement. He joined Urban & Civic for the opportunity to make a real difference in this respect at a leading strategic residential-led developer.
