Philip Baker is the Construction Industry Council’s Deputy Health and Safety Champion and sits on the CIC Health and Safety Committee. Having trained as a Building Engineer and worked in design practice, Philip has spent the last 28 years embedded in all matters related to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, design risk management and construction health and safety issues. In addition to running his own consultancy, Philip has spent a significant amount of time improving outcomes for construction workers by working with professional bodies and encouraging the industry to take a joined up approach on a number of issues through his involvement at a senior level with the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Association for Project Safety, the Institution of Civil Engineers, the British Safety Industry Federation and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. Philip is also involved in setting practitioners standards with the International Safety and Health Construction Coordinators Organisation. Philip has spoken internationally on a broad range of subjects, including his passion, safety in design.
