Dr Maria Athanassiadou, Manager of Urban Climate Services Team, Met Office
Dr Maria Athanassiadou is the Manager of the Urban Climate Services team in the UK Applied Science Strategic Area of the Met Office. Working closely with stakeholders both in the UK and internationally, she leads the work on a range of projects that bring the latest in science and technology, into the development of urban services across timescales.
Her background is in Mathematics and Meteorology, with research interests in urban science, including modelling, observations, and impacts. Maria has a passion for the urban landscape and effective use of green/blue spaces for our cities’ resilience and adaptation to climate change.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and author of scientific articles about climate, weather and impacts to the urban environment.
