Laura Baron, Head of Sustainability, Purcell 

As Head of Sustainability at the world’s leading heritage architectural firm, Laura is motivated by a desire to improve the world around her, for all who experience it. Her role is to drive positive change, both within her organisation, and the wider industry, championing reuse and finding value in what we already have.

With over 15 years’ experience in the architectural profession her broad range of experience includes meaningful contributions to award-winning projects across the UK, from high-density urban regeneration projects to cultural buildings, renowned educational institutions and historically significant places.

Working closely with project teams she helps guide clients towards environmentally and socially responsible design solutions. She encourages all design professionals to start from a position of knowledge, understanding the context within which they are operating, and being cognisant of both the local and the global implications of the decisions we make as designers.

She is currently involved in multiple industry initiatives and groups aimed at improving the construction profession, including the City of London Skills for a Sustainable Skyline, Architects Climate Action Network, and LETI, she is also overseeing Purcell’s contribution to the establishment of a regional chapter of Architects Declare, ensuring climate action is not a London-centric activity.
