Jane Manning, Director, Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners
Jane is a Director at Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners. She is an urban designer with a background in environmental planning and has led the practice’s ground-breaking research into character, climate resilience and growth across London. Jane’s pivotal role in the research of London’s Character and Density study led to the RIBA President’s Award for Research in 2017. A strong advocate for context-led interventions, she has been championing this through the production of Design Codes for local authorities, most recently for Hounslow and Elmbridge.
Jane has led many masterplans and town centre strategies across the UK, advocating a zero-waste approach which makes the best of what already exists in each place. She is a member of the Urban Design Editorial Board, writing a regular column – Climate Change Global Digest – and curating topic editions of Urban Design magazine including a recent one focusing on the circular economy.
