Hazel Mealy, Principal Strategy Officer, Better Placed Partnership, Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark Councils
Hazel is an ARB registered architect with experience in architecture, humanitarian shelter, urban planning, international development and low carbon design in the UK and Ireland as well as internationally. She has a masters from London Metropolitan University in the Architecture of rapid change and scarce resources, and a masters from the University of Malta in human rights law and practice, so her interests lie in the overlap between human rights, climate change and architecture.
She is currently working as a Principal Strategy Officer at Better Placed, a partnership between the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark, with a 2021-2024 focus on the development of low carbon heat and energy, and retrofit skills across the tri-borough area. Hazel is passionate about innovative community-led solutions to unlock local retrofit potential, and utilising all possible councils levers to stimulate and enable retrofit and the wider low carbon economy.
