Eleanor Andrade May, Student volunteer, Teach the Future
El Andrade May is a 20-year-old student, currently in their second year at Sheffield University. They have been part of Teach the Future since March 2020, organising digital communications surrounding the Climate Education Bill and other recent projects. During COP26, they met with then Secretary of State for Education, Nadhim Zahawi, to discuss the Department for Education’s Climate and Sustainability Draft Strategy. They have also worked on research with teachers into the current state of climate education, and led school-wide sustainability initiatives during their time in sixth form. Before volunteering for Teach the Future, they helped shape and feedback on the Devon Climate Emergency Response Carbon Plan to spark climate action at a local level.
