Edmund Fowles, Director, Feilden Fowles
Edmund founded Feilden Fowles in 2009 with Fergus Feilden. Following his studies at the University of Cambridge and the Architectural Association, he gained professional experience at Hopkins Architects. There he worked on Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, which was awarded AJ Building of the Year.
At Feilden Fowles Edmund has delivered a range of award-winning projects, from the new dining hall at Homerton College, University of Cambridge, Feilden Fowles’ own studio at Waterloo City Farm, to Charlie Bigham’s Food Production Campus in Somerset. He is the Director in charge of a number of prestigious education projects, including the graduate accommodation and student facilities for Green Templeton College, University of Oxford. In addition, Ed is leading Feilden Fowles’ proposals for the Urban Nature Project at the Natural History Museum in London.
He has taught and lectured widely, including at the RIBA, University of Cambridge, the Architectural Association and London Metropolitan University, where he taught a design studio with Associate Ingrid Petit from 2015-2018, exploring new forms of education design. Edmund is a keen cyclist, and is championing the practice’s net-zero initiative.
The practice’s many accolades include the RIBA Stirling Prize shortlist (2019) and multiple RIBA National and Regional Awards; Civic Trust and Wood Awards; BD Young Architect of the Year Award (2016); and nomination for the EU Mies Award (2019).
