Charlotte Large, Director – Strategy & Decarbonisation, Equans

Charlotte has 20 years experience in low carbon energy working in consultancy, strategy and delivery roles within the private sector, local government and the civil service.
Charlotte started her career as Sustainability Consultant for AECOM working on a range of energy, water and building environmental performance projects. At Islington Council in the early 2010s, Charlotte successfully delivered Islington’s award-winning Bunhill Heat Network including incubation of an innovative project to capture waste heat from the London Underground. She joined EQUANS in 2021 after 7 years in the civil service. Formerly based in the BEIS Heat and Building Strategy team Charlotte worked on developing a strategic approach for decarbonising buildings over the next decade, working to draw together near-term policy and development work across both the Clean Heat and Energy Efficiency & Local directorates. Prior to that Charlotte worked in the Heat Network Team, initially as the Head of HNDU South projects, and later as the Head of the Heat Network Investment Project, taking the funding scheme through government approvals and mobilisation.

At EQUANS she is working to help develop the strategies to transition to net zero, supporting EQUANS city centre heat networks schemes, clients and customers.
Charlotte is passionate about Diversity & Inclusion and led the Heat Network Industry Council to adopt an industry wide Diversity & Inclusion Charter and commit to an annual survey to monitor the industry workforce.
