Adrian is an Assistant Director with the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) in the UK Government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Adrian has responsibility for leading OPSS’s work on complex regulatory delivery issues including partnership approaches. His current priorities include construction products and in particular, developing a collaborative approach between regulators across the construction sector.
Whilst at OPSS Adrian has worked closely with local and national regulatory agencies and businesses to develop partnership approaches to securing better regulatory outcomes and is involved in the development of tools to support the competency of front-line inspectors. As part of OPSS’s international work Adrian has provided advice and training to the food safety regulator in Nepal on risk-based targeting, inspection checklists and approaches to improving business compliance. Adrian has also worked with regulators in Vietnam in developing their approach to business engagement. Adrian is an environmental health regulator by background with 15 years of experience in food safety and health and safety regulation at front line inspector and management levels.
