Urban soil – a vital ecosystem to protect and enhance, not waste for disposal – curated by Soil In Construction

Soil is one of our most precious non-renewable resources and its health and the many ecosystem services it currently provides are under significant threat. Long term protection of soils and support for enhancing their function is vital for climate mitigation and adaptation, and stemming biodiversity loss. The construction industry has a leading role to play in ensuring the sustainability of our soils. This seminar, focusing on research from Lancaster University and the cross-sector Soils in Planning and Construction Task Force, will be of interest to local planning authorities, clients, developers, design teams and contractors.
