Many of the well-known barriers in delivering retrofit get plenty of airtime, such the technical aspects, or the retrofit skills gap. But as social housing landlords struggle to deliver on pilots alongside ‘business as usual’, many lesser-recognised barriers are emerging. The need for soft skills such as how to communicate retrofit to residents and engage them through the process. How to align service levels throughout the supply chain. Issues within the wider eco-system such as funding and supply chain security. And the cultural change needed from the top down to make social housing organisations retrofit-ready. This session discusses the problems – and some solutions – to these hidden barriers to scale.
‘Take a Stand’ theme – ‘taking a stand’ about barriers to scaling retrofit (soft skills and capacity building)
