Mike Fairey, Chairman, Light Steel Frame Association

Working within the automotive and construction industries since the 1980s, Mike Fairey has firmly established his reputation as an expert in offsite construction, engineering, and light steel framing. His career began with a five-year engineering apprenticeship in prototype automotive design and testing, creating new models for Rolls Royce, Aston Martin and DeLorean. Having established a panelised light steel frame structural business in 2010 and after garnering significant experience and knowledge, Mike served as a Board Member of The Housing Forum from 2016.

His insight as a well-respected leader within the light steel frame industry has provided a valued voice to the offsite sector, championing and driving education, reform, and innovation in UK housebuilding. Mike currently heads up Fusion Steel Framing, established as a market leader in complete light steel frame panellised superstructures. Under his leadership, Fusion has seen considerable expansion, working across the residential, care home, private rental, and student accommodation markets.

Currently serving as chairman of the Light Steel Frame Association, Mike continues to use his considerable experience and understanding of industry challenges to engage with governing bodies and decision-makers, promoting the benefits of offsite construction and shaping the built sector.
