This session will see product and innovation presentations from Innovation Partners, who you can also visit on the Innovation Trail.
15.45-16.00 Designing low carbon buildings of the future – how flowing screeds can help to meet the Future Homes Standard 2025
The Future Homes Standard 2025 states new builds must reduce carbon emissions by 75%, compared to homes built under current regulations. As a result, new homes will use alternative heating sources from gas boilers, and underfloor heating usage is predicted to soar. During this session, we will explore what this could mean for the flowing screeds industry and the environmental credentials of anhydrite screeds.
Presenter: Alan Jackson, Commercial manager, LKAB Minerals
16.05-16.20 How to build and design with innovative products, materials, and solutions?
EDGE explains how its showroom, shop and project management department encourage and helps everyone to make better material and product choices when building and designing their homes. Working alongside Europe’s most sustainable and innovative brands, EDGE Eco Design Green Environment is London’s first interior design and construction showroom dedicated to low-carbon, sustainable and environmentally friendly products and materials. Exposure to new technologies and materials is designed to benefit businesses and individuals by empowering them to take sustainability into their own hands, as well as provide a trusted space in which to access the products.
Presenter: Robynne Hammer, COO, EDGE16.25-16.40 Decarbonising Cement
The UK cement sector has delivered early action to reduce absolute carbon emissions from 1990 to 2018 by 53%. The next phase of carbon reduction will be delivered by new fuel technologies, new low carbon cements, and UK based carbon capture infrastructure. In this session the speakers will explain the innovations being deployed to support the transition to net zero cement.
Presenter: Dr Diana Casey, Director, MPA Cement
16.45-17.00 Circular Design is a failed model, without Material Health and Regenerative Ambitions
With planetary and human health taking unprecedented strain, circular design has never been more vital – yet exercising circularity in design without inclusion of material health and regenerative design leaves us with yet another failed product design model, similar to linear economy design. Founding Partner, Chaline Church of Regenerative Circular Design Consultancy, 540 WORLD gives a UK snapshot of international and national innovation case studies and explains ‘how’ the built environment leaders are going beyond the non-starter of sustainable design, to verified, certified, sustainable materials in projects and ‘how’ to access these materials and frameworks for UK projects.
Presenter: Chaline Church, Founding Partner, MA Interior Architect & Circular Materials Specialist, 540 World
