Urban climate resilience – curated by University of Birmingham

The climate is changing, and our urban areas must be prepared for more frequent heavy rainfall events and hotter summers. Summer 2022 showed us how hot weather can cause infrastructure networks to fail, and cause homes, offices, and care settings to overheat. Winter flooding events have shown the vulnerability of built environment to heavy duration rainfall events. This session will consider what future weather we are likely to have, and how built environment practitioners can work with existing data, knowledge, and systems to increase urban resilience to future climate.
