Beam and block flooring is fast, cost-effective, and simple to install, requiring no special skills. It’s the most affordable way to build a durable, solid floor.
The system uses inverted T-beams of pre-stressed concrete, cut to specified lengths based on construction drawings. On-site, these beams are laid perpendicular to the supporting blockwork walls of the inner leaf of the footings and spaced to accommodate lightweight aircrete or dense aggregate blocks.
A 4:1 dry mix of sharp sand and cement is brushed over the structure to fill gaps, consolidating the beams and blocks into a solid floor. This entirely dry process requires no mortar or adhesive, providing an instant working platform ready for follow-on trades.
Milbank has been manufacturing concrete flooring products for over 75 years. We supply 155mm and 225mm deep pre-stressed T-beams in lengths of 1-6m (in 50mm increments) and 100mm deep concrete blocks to span gaps during installation.
Beam and block flooring is flexible, adaptable, and easy to use, offering high load-carrying capacity and eliminating issues like bounce, creaking, and deterioration associated with timber joists.
