New standards for low-carbon concrete unveiled at COP29

The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) introduced international low-carbon concrete definitions at COP29. Designed to support the construction industry’s decarbonisation, these standards offer global consistency while adapting to local benchmarks. Using Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), the framework aims to accelerate the adoption of greener materials. The initiative aligns with global climate goals, highlighting the industry’s role in achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
