Industry-Leading Morgan Sindall Construction Signs The Anti Greenwash Charter, Committing to Radical Transparency in Communications

MSC & TAGC

In an era where trust defines the battle for corporate credibility, Morgan Sindall Construction (MSC)
has made a significant stride by becoming a certified signatory of The Anti-Greenwash Charter. This
move underscores MSC’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its environmental
claims.

As the new UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer aptly stated, “The fight for trust is the battle that
defines our age.” The current landscape in the UK has seen increasing scrutiny over corporate
claims of sustainability, with the public becoming more sceptical and regulatory bodies tightening
their oversight. Greenwashing – the practice of providing misleading or false information about a
company’s environmental practices – has eroded public trust and made it crucial for businesses to
adopt transparent and honest communication practices.

MSC’s decision to align with The Anti-Greenwash Charter marks a pivotal moment in this ongoing
battle. As a leading organisation in the construction sector, MSC’s commitment to radical
transparency sets a significant benchmark. This move not only solidifies MSC’s position as a
sustainability leader but also serves as a powerful signal to the entire industry about the importance
of integrity in environmental claims.

Timothy Clement, Director of Social Value & Sustainability at Morgan Sindall Construction,
remarked, “Our new Green Claims Policy does not change the way we operate but enhances our
credibility by providing an additional layer of accountability. We take pride in the fact that our
sustainability claims are backed by solid proof. Partnering with The Anti-Greenwash Charter
ensures we meet and exceed future legislative requirements in the UK.”

The Anti-Greenwash Charter, born out of a need for transparent and honest environmental
communications, aims to combat misleading environmental claims. Since its inception in 2022, the
Charter has garnered support from over 60 organisations in the construction industry, including
Morgan Sindall Construction, Karndean Designflooring, and Sentry Doors. The movement is
further backed by notable entities such as Futurebuild, The Green Register, and Timber
Development UK.

Charlie Martin, CEO of The Anti-Greenwash Charter, commended MSC’s decision, stating,
“Morgan Sindall Construction’s commitment to our Charter is a significant milestone. Their
leadership sets a powerful example for the industry, emphasising the importance of radical
transparency. We believe this partnership will inspire other organisations to adopt a similarly
rigorous approach to their environmental communications.”

The Charter’s mission is clear: to foster genuine sustainability in corporate communications through
transparency, honesty, fairness, and accountability. This alignment with Morgan Sindall
Construction not only strengthens the Charter’s impact but also highlights the construction
company’s dedication to being a leader of real change.
