Cross-laminated timber
The development of the cross laminated (CLT) timber industry has made it much easier to design timber buildings. The fact that panels can be one-way or two-way spanning makes them a viable alternative to reinforced concrete for buildings with load bearing walls. Where columns are required instead of walls, a hybrid system using steel beams and columns together with CLT floors can be used.
